It is a product of 100 per cent mineral origin, manufactured and blended from several types of quarry material in accordance with a specific formula and gradation curve, based on a French licence and the DIN 18035-5 standard.
As our Parkdecor material is a 100% natural product containing no binders such as stabilisers (stabiliser, psyllium, plantain), cement, lime, clays or dyes, you can expect it to last for decades.
To maintain a Parkdecor gravel surface, use a light-weight slatted rake to remove organic matter (leaves, twigs, etc.) and other debris; this also serves to renew and regenerate the top layer by a few millimetres. In the event of mechanical damage to the surface, the original material at the repair site is loosened, moistened and simply compacted by pressing down. Under no circumstances should additional material be added to the original compacted area, nor should the surface be vibrated in any way!
The top (wearing) layer of Parkdecor gravel, with a grain size of 0/5 mm, is laid in a single layer at a time. The same applies to the dynamic layer with a grain size of 0/16 mm.
The Parkdecor gravel surface should only be compacted using a roller weighing between approximately 50 kg (a garden roller filled with water) and 750 kg (with the vibration function switched off), depending on the size, purpose and requirements of the project. Vibrating plates or vibratory rammers must not be used. In areas inaccessible to a roller (corners, next to building walls and low walls, under benches, etc.), the layer must be compacted using, for example, a plank, a beam, a brick, etc.
One of the key requirements for a gravel surface is guaranteed water permeability as specified by the DIN 18035-5 standard, which Parkdecor gravel meets in all colour variants.
If the surrounding terrain is at the same level as the final crushed stone surface, it is not necessary to install edging. For wider pavements, promenades and non-traffic areas, a crushed stone surface without edging is often more aesthetically pleasing; however, maintenance to prevent grass from growing through must be taken into account (e.g. by trimming the edges with an angle grinder).
Parkdecor gravel must not be compacted using vibratory equipment and is water-permeable; therefore, it is possible to lay Parkdecor gravel right up to the trunks of trees, even over older, established roots.
We recommend creating a small cleaning area in front of every entrance to buildings, premises, etc., in the form of a paved surface, mats, etc.
Yes, as this is a product manufactured to a specific formula, in the event of amendments or the project being split into stages, we will always supply the same milled surface, both in terms of technical parameters and colour.
Parkdecor paving slabs can also be purchased on their own. Every new customer receives guidance and advice on correct installation at the time of purchase.
We treat every customer as an individual, and our services include a comprehensive package ranging from design and advice on the correct layering to training for the client’s staff. This service is, of course, also available for private projects carried out by the client themselves.
Transport can be arranged using a three-way tipper trailer with a capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes, a container lorry with a capacity of up to 12 tonnes, and, for larger projects, a lorry with a capacity of over 12 tonnes fitted with a tipper semi-trailer.
It is possible to collect the chaff in person, even in instalments, depending on individual arrangements and each customer’s circumstances.
The final surface of every Parkdecor gravel colour consists of washed and rinsed stones of various sizes, which serve an aesthetic purpose, provide a comfortable walking experience and, above all, ensure the required dust-free properties. Parkdecor gravel does not contain clay, limestone or any other materials that cause it to stick to shoes, pram wheels, bicycles, etc.
Parkdecor crushed stone is most cost-effectively distributed as loose material. It can also be supplied individually in large-volume ‘big bags’. We recommend storing it on a solid surface or on a tarpaulin to ensure the crushed stone remains clean and that 100 per cent of the material is used. We also recommend covering the crushed stone with a tarpaulin once it has been unloaded on site, to prevent the material from drying out and to stop it being washed away by rain, which could cause the fine particles to be washed out. Any remaining crushed stone (reserve) can be stored in a plastic bag or barrel, regardless of the weather, even for long periods.
